SLALEY HALL 2009 RESULTS

"Champion twice in three years"
The Hunting Course and the Priestman Course at Slaley Hall provided a first class location for the 64th. Championship, with both courses in top class condition in preparation for the PGA Seniors Championship the following week. Despite cooler than normal temperatures and a strong wind, it remained dry for the 83 competitors.
The Champion over 36 holes was Jeremy Palser, of Hot Brands, with 68 points, to win the "News Bowl", a remarkable acheivement having won the title in 2007 at the Vale. Jeremy also won the Lotus Trophy for the West Midlands Region.
Runner Up, winning the "United Chrometanners Cup" was Malcolm Sloan from Northern Ireland, with 66 points, and also winning the Shamrock Trophy for Ireland.
In third place with 61 points, winning the "Chairmans Mashie" was Andrew Wilkinson from Leicestershire, and also winning the Airborne Trophy for Leicester and County.
The International Match was a resounding victory for Scotland & Ireland, beating England & Wales 3 and a half to a half.
Nora Perry from Leeds won the Ladies Championship and the "Shoe and Leather News Trophy" with 55 points. Nora also won the Championship in 2002.
Kate James of Euroleathers won the "Footsure Salver"
The Scratch Cup, "The Wilbur Muirhead Trophy" was retained by Craig Hamilton, who also won the "Parkers Founders Trophy" having played in 10 or more championships. The Under 35's Trophy, "The Hugh Denton Trophy" was won by 16 year old Stephen O'Brien on his first appearance at the Championship, this completed a Trio of wins for the O'Brien Family as Bernard O'Brien won the Presidents Salver, and Susie O'Brien the Start-rite Ladies Competition.
The "Turner Bowl" for the Over 60's was won by Ivor Tilley of Wollaston Marketing. The Visitors winner was Simon Pollard of Leicestershire, winning the "Marlone Trophy".
